Korg pitchblack tuner

I needed a good pedal tuner and this one is. I did a a/b with the Boss TU-2 for a good 30 minutes and this was much better IMO.

First off it is easy for me to read the notes displayed, simple operation and no loss of tone or volume when off and no pops or anything when engaged and dead on accuracy +/-1cent with 4 display modes and true bypass.

The Boss on the other hand was decent but did not work well in flat or double flat modes. It worked best in chromatic mode and there was some loss of tone when off.

I do have two Boss pedals that I enjoy, but in this case the Korg was the big winner.

I am sure there are other threads on this, but I wanted to share my findings on these two back to back

I just bought one too, and I gotta say, it's the simplest, quickest pedal tuner I've had. It's light too, and smaller than the boss. It's so easy to read in daylight too. I'm 100% thrilled with the thing. Definitely a keeper.

+1 Really good tuner. Bought Pitchblack, sold my old TU-2 and haven`t regretted.

I use the flat tuning option quite often on the old Korg DT-10, which is sadly absent from the pitchblack.

The flat tuning option is only available on the pitchblack+ model and the older DT-10 models.

I guess I don't understand...It gives you the note and tells you whether you're on or not, what more do you need?

I think they're the reason tu-2s have been selling (used) cheaper.

I've worked hard on my board to compensate for the tone suck of my Boss tuner. I think my effected tone is nicer than my straight-to-the-amp tone is now. When I finally replace the Boss with a Pitchblack, I hope it's even better, but fear it may go the other way, like I disrupted some sort of magical balance on my fx board. Ya never know.

flat tuning. some people find it useful, some people have no problems if the function is not there.

i'm just mentioning that for those who liked the flat tuning function in the Korg DT-10, just be aware that this function is not available in the pitchblack.

I'm baffled. The tuner tells you if you're F#, for example, and whether you need to come up or down to get the note. I guess I'd just tune to Bb, Eb, Ab, Db & Gb...please explain why this wouldn't work on my pitchblack...

it will work on your pitchblack, i'm not saying it won't.

i'm simply saying that the flat tuning function that the DT-10 has is absent from the pitchblack. Only the pitchblack+ and the older Korg DT-10 has it.

check the DT-10 manual if you're unsure of the flat tuning function specs and how you would use that function.

I love mine too.
A question for all that attached their Pitch Black to their board...Did you just put velcro on the rubber bottom? Or did you pull the rubber bottoms off?

I pulled the rubber bottoms off of the Pitchblack...as I do with all of my pedals once I decide they are in the family.

According to the Korg website both the pitchblack and the pitchblack+ will recognize sharp/flat notes.

Not easily, apparently they liked being on there...but the velcro on my board doesn't like them very much!
