i am a gig bag fan myself, but to each there own.
what about those unmolded, rectangular cases? don't know of any of the companies, but i had one that came with a ibanez-type bass (bass collection).
have you checked out skbcases.com
i have had my eye on the ATA Roto Electric Bass Case for quite a while, but haven't needed it yet.

do you like your ksd 605? the model you have, and any pros/cons you could comment on would be appreciated.

Hey thanks for the reply...

The bass really sits well in the mix. We played in a 2000 seat auditorium with Piano/ KB, Percussion, Drums, Guitar and full vocal ensemble and the response from players in the audience was very positive.

The KSD 60p rocks with the Audere preamp.
The lo-Z mode gives you a growly jazz sound with focused mids and lows. Extremely articulate sounding bass with the Audere preamp. The Stock BT Preamp was fine but really wanted a fuller sounding bass so thats why the Audere preamp. The Hiz mode lets you slip into slap mode with the flick of a switch. I spend most of the time in midZ mode which has alot of air in it. very full allaround sound

Fit and finish is just excellent. The only cons are the size of the bass, its around 49.5" L and 14" wide. Will not fit in a standard HSC. I store my basses in a HSC when not in use, so this is a little bit frustrating that I can't find a HSC. The neck has a Fenderesque feel to it, a little wider then the Am Deluxe and a little flatter but not by much. Perfect for me and my big clubs. The only other improvement would be the tuners and bridge ...I will be swapping them out for Hipshot hardware in due time, the stock ones do the job but Hipshot would be the icing on the cake to an already wonderful product. Playability is where this bass shines, it feels so comfortable, its lis a significant instrument. Longer and Wider than others of Jazz bass shape. Great for all styles of music. The Audere helped the bas tremendously. I would definitely get another one if I lost this without hesitation. As a point of reference, I own a Lakland 5502, Fender AMER DX 5 w/Barts, MM Stingray5, Marcus Miller 5 w/ Duncan, Carvin LB75 w/ OBP-3 and Nordies & a Custom 5-string Tele-bass. I'm not braggin just wanted you to know where the commentary on the KSD is coming from. I am very particular about my sound and this bass is high on the list if not #1.
