LA area music instrument stores?

Sign in to disble this ad
I've been going up to the Guitar Center in West LA many times in the last month or two.. I've been in Sam Ash and the GC up in Hollywood once each.. I'm not really fond of the Hollywood GC, not enough privacy while testing basses, and too many sales vultures on my back to boot..

I'm wondering if there are any other recommended stores with good selections of basses for me to try out? I'm having trouble finding resources for locations..

I'm not saying I'm buying right now, just testing different models and brands to feel out the right bass for me..

Any help would be cool!

There was already a thread like this long time ago. Do a search...
Try Bassexchange (Amp-shop) in Sherman Oaks. The GC also in SO. True Music in S. Monica....

That's one of the most standard "let's try and make someone feel like they're not doing enough on their own part" kind of answer... As an FYI I've been lurking around this board for a couple months already and have done quite a few searches and read quite a few threads based on those searches.. "Cirrus BXP", "John Taylor", "Music Man", "AmpegBA115", "Shecter Stiletto", etc..

Sorry I didn't know or think that there might "already be a thread on this" for store locations in Los Angeles... I'll try to be a better searcher next time...

If you read the newbie stickies up above, one of the first rules of TB is to do a search before starting a new thread.

When someone tells you to "do a search" they are not trying to make you feel like an idiot, just to help you conform to the rules. It makes for a better experience here for everyone.

Yeah, thanks...

I can see this is not my morning for help.. I've been searching now for this supposed store locations thread since I was so politely asked to. Nothing relevant has come up yet.. The only place I have seen a store reccomendation is in Maurillo's first reply to me..

Here you go.

Great bass shops in L.A.?
Bass shopping in L.A.

I can assure you Maurillo wasn't being a smart ass to you...... It seems as if you read it that way.

The search function on this site can be a bit finicky at times.

I think maurilio's suggestions are great.

Justin at Bass Exchange(bassexchange.com) can answer most of your questions and they have a nice selection of basses.

True Tone Music(truetonemusic.com) is great place also. Their repair shop is the best.

Thanks for all the suggestions, sorry I took Maurilio's response the wrong way. I did appreciate the stores he mentioned as I hadn't heard of either of them before.. I do sometimes get defensive when I feel like I'm being made wrong. It is definitely a pattern amongst discussion boards for people to "flame" other new users when they ask for info on something that's apparently been discussed already.. It gets old sometimes.. I think it's just easier to point me/others towards the thread/resource if possible, it will be more helpful to me and anyone else who may be searching for the same info..

What about the fact that I only had one available for Marina Del Rey and Culver City?
