So post 'em up! what music has gotten you guys excited or inspired to play!?

I'll start:

Letlive - Post Hardcore band from LA.
Coltrane's "Bye Bye Black Bird" his solo on the recording I have sent chills down my spine. Made me rethink the whole modal jazz approach.

I discovered Coheed and Cambria a few years ago and immediately had to get all their albums. Hadn't been that excited by a band or artist in years.

Only slightly more recently, Porcupine Tree!

Listening to Pandora while on vacation, ("My" Garaj Mahal station ) and heard the tune "Sushi Pimp" by Gnappy. Proceeded to buy all 3 of their discs. Very cool stuff.

I was just going through some cds I don't usually listen to and came across Race Car Ya-Yas by Cake. For some reason, the music and groove in that minute and a half blew my mind.

I have been listening to a lot of Dave Holland recently. His contrapuntal writing sets him apart. And he has such a connection with his drummer - they sound incredible.

I bought an album when I was in high school by Dave Holland and didn't care for it to much. As I have matured, I realize that I wasn't ready for it yet.

Fit and the Conniptions

Time to shamelessly pimp my friend's band: I got rather excited when I found out the new album was completed. Having heard several different "intermediate" mixes it was great to hear the finished work all the way through. It's really very good, and it's spurred me to try and my act together with own band.

really, really digging the Jerusalem self-titled record... it's old, but I only found out about these dudes recently while listening to online radio... hot damn, is it ever right up my alley.

I've been playing the Hell out of these two tracks lately... YouTube - Jerusalem - 02 & 03 - Hooded Eagle / I See the Light
