Late Night talk show House bands

Sign in to disble this ad
I was just wondering which of the late night talk show bands you like? I think that LEtterman has the top musicians but I enjoy The Max Weinburg's 7 song selections. THey do more songs that I like. I dont really even know much about LEno's band except the guitarist went to Berklee. Also Joe firstman on Carson daily's show is real interesting. His group does alot of funky jazz , but online it says on his albums he does alternative? If anyone else has info on the late night bands, post away.

I like The Max Weinberg 7. They are all top musicians. Max is Bruce Springsteen's drummer, and the horn players went on tour with Springsteen not too long ago. The guitarist from the 7 plays in a Beatles tribute band with Will Lee from Letterman, called the Fab Faux. They do really good performances of every kind of Beatles song. Even stuff like "She's leaving Home"

im a fan of the weinberg 7 as well. the bass player gets great tone form hsi sadowsky/aguilar combination. them and the letterman band are more fun to watch than the otehrs i think, but kevin eubanks form the leno show is one hell of a guitar player and his bassist can groove on his fodera quite nicly as well. id have to give the edge to the weinberg 7 though. max is the man.

Both Will Lee (Letterman) and Mike Merrit (Conan) are great players that also stand out in those bands.
But the Leno band to me has always had too much busy playing going on, the bass mix is always buried behind the band you can hardly hear it. And not only that, but they can never keep a bassist...what are they on, # 6 or 7?

i like the cbs orchestra and the MW7...I think that Kevin Eubank's band is ok, but they just don't seem to get "into it" like the MW7 or the CBSO. i think that Eubank's band sounds "too" refined, and i like a band that sounds a little edgy

i agree with the the last two posts...it seems as the=ough the guys in the cbs orschestra and the max weinberg 7 are doign what they should be, enjoying quite possibly the coolest musician gig imaginable...you dont need to travel all over, im sure it pays great, plenty of free time for other gigs and spare time, fun and constantly changing set lists. =my dream job.

My favorite was the original Late Night band with Hiram Bullock and Steve Jordan.

I hate the Leno band. That chick that sings, or moans, or whatever needs to go. Letteman probably has the best players. Conan's band is the most entertaining.

could've sworn the guy uses a mike lull. he may have switched; i haven't seen the show in a long while, unfortunately.

I don't really like Leno's band, Weinberg plays stuff like Led Zep and Foo Fighters, followed by A night in Tunesia.

En Labamba rules

The Max Weinberg 7 always seem to have a great time too. It's probably because they are playing in a great band with a steady gig and get paid decent money

I forgot about them! They were great too! I always loved that bass players beat up P-bass with the white jazz pickup in the bridge position.

I like Will Lee and Conan's band The Max Weinberg 7, although I much prefer Max's fill-in James Wormsworth on drums and Jimmy Vivino picks better tunes when he's in charge. I find Max is a bit of a heavy hitter for the swing/jazz stuff.
