Learning Keyboard

Sign in to disble this ad
My buddy is going to be leaving his keyboard here for a while and I have been wanting to learn to play

I am going to work on reading music for both bass and keyboard ( so I will be learning both treble and bass clef ) but I was wondering if there were any exercises that I could do to help me get started with finger independence, strength, and accuracy, and if there was anything that could allow me to begin thinking in musical terms with it ( most of my stuff sounds like music bits for cheesy 70's horror flicks, kind of like a lot of my bass lines haha ).

do I do them simultaneously or do I do them one at a time ( left hand for one scale then right hand ) or do I alternate between octaves ( for example c major, low c then high c with other hand, low d then high de with other hand, etc. )?

and thanks for the help

lately I've just been playing melodies based on diminished scales... sounds cheesy and it gets boring lol
