Leather Pickguards..

I just recently saw an add for a custom guitar maker who uses leather pickguards which have beautifull patterns and pictures carved into them and they look amazing. Im thinking about getting one made for my Fender Jazz deluxe MIA ( its aged cherry burst

) anyone ever seen these before?

Didn't Waylon Jennings have something like this on a Tele back in the late 70's - 80's? Take a look at the intro to "Dukes of Hazzard". That's his Tele and IIRC, the guard/covering is blue-black leather.

Of course you'll need a matching tooled leather strap.

Since it's a pickguard, though, it would be even better if made from some very scratch-resistant exotic leather like elephant or stingray. And yes, completely legal elephant skin does exist... makes great work boots.
