It's so weird to see Jimmy playing a Tele...

Thanks for that!

I love guitarists who want to play a Les Paul because "that's the sound of Zep 1 & 2." Yeah...

The first Led Zeppelin album was recorded entirely with a Tele (gifted by Jeff Beck) if I'm not mistaken.

Is it just me or did Jimmy Page play like a demon with that full on Telecaster + fuzz setup and got gradually worse the less gain he used and the more Les Paul he used?

As for this being a "lost" performance it is very much found again on the Led Zeppelin DVD

Sheesh that solo actually kills. He's like an engineer delicately building a Swiss watch with notes sometimes. JPJ's tone is pretty tasty as well. Here goes my Telecaster Gas....

Yeah.. this clip is on the DVD. Denmark television if I remember correctly.
Wouldnt have been great to be one of those kids sitting on the floor watching this new band playing for the TV cameras?

The solo in 'Stairway' was done on a Strat...he also used a Strat on-stage at Knebworth for 'In The Evening' 'cause he needed the whammy bar. I'm just saying that it's weird to SEE him with anything other than a Les.

Yah, I get what you mean. I'm just saying I love guitarists who don't know their stuff.

Anyone know what amps Page and JPJ are using, and what fuzz pedal Page is using to get that tone?

I normally am not a fan of old live Zep vids, but I enjoyed these! Of course JPJ and Bonzo are killer and Page is Page; glorious+loose=somehow incredible... I really don't think any other guitar player could get away with what Jimmy pulls off. He makes it work and I cannot figure out how. There is more to it than good notes, tightness and technique, apparently! ;-)

...but Plant... Holy cow... what a voice!

Wouldn't that make it The New Yardbirds?

The fuzz is possibly a Roger Mayer custom unit reverse-engineered into a maestro fuzz casing. Stories vary. The amps are (IIRC) Arbiter Power 100s, possibly feeding Vox cabinets. They used Super Beatles for their really early stuff and the cabs outlived the heads.
