Actually, I think he played the sax. Ironically he built guitars and amps.

He gained his knowledge of guitars from repairing Rickenbackers in his shop that was located down the street from the Rickenbacker factory.

I thought that he played the clarinet, but I knew he didn't play guitar or bass.

off topic but sorta on topic, Jim Marshall, of Marshall amplifiers is actually a drummer not guitar player. Go figure.

His wife was the Second Runner Up in the Miss America pageant in 1947 - she was nearly disgraced after a photo shoot in the early '40s showing an uncovered navel.

Sorry to be serious for a minute - but I found this article interesting; Leo fans may know a lot of this already.

He designed the pickup for the Musicman while on a cruise ship, sitting at the Captains dinner table. He scribbled the diagram on to a napkin...........

Neither does Jim Bergantino.... or is that he doesn't play bass? I'd have to check on the old TB threads to confirm.

Thousands of years ago into the future, an unholy act between 70 million angels of the purest kind and 70 million demons of the blackest kind took place that spawned Leo Fender.

He decided that both sides were guilty of a crime against nature and saught to develop an axe so powerful that none shall withstand it. The P Bass was born. He slew them all in a single blow and to this day watches over all diciples of the Axe.

Thus it is written, thus it shall be.
