The new ones come with grooved saddles and you needn't do anything to them.

The new BadAss III with the spaces on the saddle is made for stringthrough bodies with 3 screw holes. The BadAss II has 5 screw holes and is made for basses like the MIM. With the II, you have to file your own slots on the saddles. You could get it done by a professional, or you can do it youself if you have an appropriate file.
