Does anyone in here live near Atlanta, GA, and if so who's going to see Claypool at The Variety Playhouse tomorrow night? (technically tonight..)
Has anyone seen him on this "Of Whales and Woe Tour"? |

He's tight live w/Primus, I'm sure he's tight live solo. I've been listening to Les for about 5 years straight, so I'm burnt out on him. He's good live, you'll like it.

| | | | Primus/Les is funny that way, it seems like. I used to be way into Primus back in the early-mid '90s, in the heyday of the Sailing the Seas of Cheese era. Saw them play many times in many venues. But man, I'm still totally burned out on them and it's been 10 years. Les is a supercool guy though, my wife interviewed him once. |

i was fortunate enough to see a string of oysterhead shows when they did that first tour. unfortunately, the shows were practically the same thing again and again with the exception of a song or two. for the nyc roseland show, i went early and positioned myself front row trey side (i may play the bass and les may be one of the most inspiring bassists to watch, but i've had many 'spiritual' experiences seeing trey play ) which also gave me a killer view of les! does anyone know what that antler guitar trey plays is? is it a built in theramin or something?
in any event, thanks for the info, lesfleanut...i'll definitely try and score a ticket and head out to that show. nokia is a REALLY cool theatre inside. |

i saw Les at Bonnaroo. i find most of his non-Primus stuff to be kind of lame, but it was a good show. The sax player was the most entertaining person to me.
i have some pics from that show here: http://www.dougpettway.com/Doug%20Pe...20Day%203.html |

IIRC the antler guitar is called the matterhorn, and yes, it's just a theramin built into a guitar. I might add that tre usually butchers any jam that he tries live with it. That's alright, because when you look behind him... Yeah that's stewart copeland. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
