My son is 3 and a half. He wants, and I want him, to have is own axe.

Anyone have any brand favorites? I don't have a price range in mind.

If you mean 6 string electric guitar, check out the Fender Squier Mini Stratocasters. I got one for my daughter and they are great.

Did the same for my boy, but the Squier failed to provide proper intonation. It's an upscale toy, but not a true instrument. Also got him a Baby Taylor (acoustic) that's quite decent. Gotta play 'em to know what you're getting. If you order online, expect some limits and possible returns/swap outs until you score a reasonable one.

So I take it you chose red or black instead of the pink Hello Kitty version?

I picked up a Yamaha 3/4 size for my son. hes 4 1/2 yrs old and Loves it, Once I changed the strings and tuned it, It sounds pretty good for a cheap 3/4, not like a toy as I expected it too. Once I see for sure hes interested in it fully, Ill upgrade him to a nice Electric.

I picked it up from Music 123.

Thanks much. Don't think my wife is ready for the Squire yet. Will go acoustic. Have only had hands on experience with ones that are mostly toy. But, have only begun shopping. Thanks for starting points.
