lightweight gear... I need to make the switch After this weekend's gig, I realized it's time to make the switch to a Class D amp and neo speakers. At 36 my body doesn't like me moving an 80lb head and 80lb cab as many times in one night as playing a gig requires. My knees and back hurt during the move and the next day. I need a lot of power- 500w into an 8 ohm 4x12. So I'd need to replace 4 speakers (8 eventually) and pick up a new head. Any recommendations? Should I look into a pre-power setup using one of the newer ultralight power amps? Might be more affordable. |
I feel your pain. I have an MTI era SVT that never leaves the house. I should sell that behemoth; I can't even stack it without some help. For a while I had an Ashdown 210 combo that I never really liked that much, but I sold it and bought a Traynor Dynabass 300T with two high compliance 8 inch speakers, and I like it just fine. I can use it alone or with a 15" exterior cab if I need more. It only weighs about 30 lbs. |

Same issues here at age 49. I recommend the Genz Benz Shuttle 6.0 or the 9.0 (they also now make the 6.2/9.2) and pair it with a Epifani or Bergantino smaller cab and you will be set to go! |
I had the same problem so I am now running a GB Streamliner 900 and Barefaced Super twelve T, combined weight 46lbs and massive sound, for bang per lb this is possibly as good as it gets IMO :) |
