Yup, it's true. I didn't read up on it too much, but apparently he picked up guitar and decided to venture into the world of rock. Here's a link to his single "Prom Queen."
I think it's kinda cool that he's not just being another unoriginal rapper, but it also kind of saddens me that he'll probably be praised as a genius for his crummy, simplistic rock, while good but little-known bands out there will continue to struggle for some time in the lime light.
What are your thoughts, TB? |

if it was sung by anyone else in the world it would be better

Damn you Cher for starting that crap! | At least you could dance to Cher's stuff. Wildly and eratically but it was dancable, lol. Quote:

A song shouldn't need lyrics to save it from being trash. But I suppose that because I don't listen to lyrics much anyway.

Honestly, I don't get Lil Wayne's popularity. He's a little crazy and unique, but he hasn't done anything all that different since his Hot Boys days. When people started labeling him as amazing then I thought, "Hey. Maybe I should check him out again." Definitely not impressed. |

Kirn's blog, Create Digital Music, has a post on it. http://createdigitalmusic.com/2005/1...orever-or-not/
Not that you can't recreate the effect using Autotune. |

What is up with using that autotune crap? It doesn't belong in rock. It ruins the song which i though was kinda cool till i heard the autotune.

Was amused by the juxtaposition of moshing and headbanging with the focal point of wayne looking 'thuggish' in the standard rapper way.
I think it has promise - he could be a pretty decent pop rocker, he certainly has the feeling in his vocals in the latter parts of the song - but there is a lot of stuff he has to stop doing to make it work, much less marketable.
