this may not go in the amp section , but here we go anyway .
i have a line6 xdr rack wireless . i am having a really loud static crackling sound in the input section of the cable . almost like it doesnt get tight enough on the locking screw side of the 1/8" input to keep it from moving around . ive searched and cant find anyone else talking about this .. but a friend said they heard that either mogami or monster cable is making an upgraded better quality cable for the line6 transmitter . any help is greatly appreciated .. next step will be soldering in a hard lined 1/4" input cable like on my samsons ....

These are excellent quality and seem to be a far more durable replacement since they epoxy and heat shrink the solder connections... http://best-tronics.com/mm5/merchant...tegory_Code=X2
They also have the nice Neutrik plug that allows you to unplug without popping your amp/cab.

| Except that, because of the epoxy, you'll have to cut off and toss the 1/8" plug if you need to repair that end.
A good crimped strain relief, and a little extra heat shrink tubing to add a little reinforcement works well when done correctly. |

And the jack on the plastic case of the transmitter would likely give out, breaking the casing before that cable if I were to put my money on it.

I'm actually quite careful... but things happen). Of course, it would be nice if they just provided a better cable to begin with... but hey, for the money (compared to other stuff out there) those wireless systems are quite good. I guess they have to cut corners somewhere to hit the pricepoint.

My X2 came with a straight plug, and it just doesn't look right with my front jack basses. Even the stock Line6 angle plug is around $30. I just got a right angle connector at Radio Shack for $4 and called it good.
If I could find one for $10 or $15, I'd get it, but $40? |

Then the transmitter crapped out completely- the XDT4. Less than three months old- and they're back-ordered. It worked on a Friday gig, went to used it Saturday, would not turn one. Tried five diff batteries, 3 alkaline, 2 rechargables, nothing.
I'm frustrated with their quality control for sure!

The little sliding sleeve just maintains the ground until the tip is out of its groove... not sure how it would make a difference whether the bass is active or passive. Yeah, the bass would still be "on" until it was pulled out further, but the signal passing through the cable would be dead I would think. Seemed to work fine for me with 2 active basses the other night when I tried it.
EDIT: Ha... looking at the Neutrik site, it does mention that it does not work with active basses... maybe I just got lucky the 3 or 4 times I've switched... then again, I may/probably had my volume pedal down which is kind of habit when not playing. So, in short (no pun intended), don't try this at home... without a volume pedal in the off or very low volume position at least
