WTH, SEMO marching band played the 1971 SB halftime show. Grew up in SE Missouri, was surprised to see this small school there.

I wouldn't mind seeing a big time marching band again. I'm kind of tired of the "trot out bands for a medly of hits" kind of thing. Those big time college marching bands can really put on a show.

Super Bowl 2 was the 1st football game I ever saw on TV.
I vaguely remember the Grambling Marching Band doin' their thing...I'm sure I woulda thought it was awesome.

Later, halftime shows at the Super Bowl were an opportunity to go outside & play a little football before the 2nd Half.
...looks like that caused me to miss out on Up With People.

Neat.... I didn't know U2 had already played.

Guess I'll have to change my bet in the "Next Year's Super Bowl Halftime Show" thread in Off Topic....

to me, a football game isn't a football game unless u have a marching band in it.

Some names I have heard mentioned for future Super Bowl halftime shows are Bon Jovi, John Fogerty, and John Mellencamp. Those are good choices as far as I can see and they all perform live very well.
