Live in Afghanistan (Part 2)

Sign in to disble this ad
Hey everybody !

I just wanted to share some news with some of my bass playing buddies over here...

I'm going back to Afghanistan to play for the troops.

It's only been a year since I last went over there to do the same thing; play music in order to prop up the people over there...

Life can get real tuff in that part of the world... Not so many things to do when not on duty... So a free rock & roll show from home is something the guys (and girls) really look forward to. And the audience appreciation is second to none. Amazing crowds... Unbelievable !

I'm really looking forward to play over there again. Such an amazing experience...

Anyways... Wish me luck. I want to get back here, just like I managed to do last time around; in one single piece !

I may post news here (if anybody cares to know...) or even pictures maybe...

Peace, Love, and Rock & Roll !!!!!!!

Sweet. Be careful, and give 'em a great show. I know they'll appreciate it. And hopefully everyone can come home safe soon.

Thats awesome, man. So many people forget about the little things that can keep the troops abroad happy and remind them of home. I'm sure it's appreciated, it's a great thing that you're doing.

Hi Rosanne !

I may only be able to write some news and pics when I get back since the connection is on the slow side of things back there, but I'm only gone for a week so... Soon I'll be back to you with updates...

Thanks for caring.

I can't imagine a single more satisfying gig. I'd rather play for 100 of our finest over there than a full house anywhere back on this side.

Go give 'em the show of their life and put a smile on each and every person's face. God knows they could use it.

PLEASE keep us updated when you get back.

Hey !!!

Thanks to all of you for your comments !!!

I am in Kandahar right now !! It is hot and really really dusty, not the best conditions to be able to sing...

Anyways, the gig is tomorrow.

I will try to keep you posted, but if not, at my return I will, with pictures maybe...

Peace.

I played there last year mate ! With the same band. But this year is different as they are experiencing quite a lot of rocket attacks and the boardwalk is rather sensitive to all of this...

We played next to the freshly built Canada House... Cool place !!!

The concert was amazing !!! Again, the crowd was sooooo appreciative of us being there !

With what band did you play there ...

I was (and still am) in a US Air Force band. We played throughout the AOR and Africa on that deployment.

Well I'm back !!! Alive and well... well kind of !

I caught a chest infection... Oh well... I can't complain.

The gig was nothing short of AMAZING !!! Again this year, the troops were really appreciative of our concert over there. Their appreciation is second to none... Really outstanding.

I have lots of great pictures of the whole trip... I will try to get around to posting some, if you guys are interested in seeing them...

I could go on and on about the trip... But to be short and sweet, all I can say is that the troops pay a really high price and do sacrifice a lot over there... the conditions in Afghanistan are really hard, yet they are there and endure this without making any fuss... All the people I met over there are heroes. This trip will live in me forever...
