Grand Funk Railroad Live
Bands today could learn a lot from watching these guys perform live. Tight, energetic, great playing and singing, and they actually sound live like the record without playing along with backing tracks or doctored up electronic vocal enhancers, etc. (imagine that today).

| | | | That's cool, and I get what you're saying, but there are plenty of bands who play like that live today...you just have to look a little harder for them than you did in the 70's. |

And yes, they did sound awesome live. Well worth the huge $12 investment for first tier seats back in the day.

But you don't have to "imagine" it today, it happens all the time. Have you seen any live music (in person, footage or otherwise) since those days? |

However, I see many big name acts these days live that have lots of backing tracks or are not very tight. |

| | | | I can't remember where I read this, but they were supposed to back up Led Zepplin on an American tour. On the first show of the tour, GFR opened the show, and afterwards, Peter Grant (Zepplin's manager), had them removed from the tour, saying something to the effect that "no American band is going to steal the show from my boys"! I just wish Grand Funk got more recognition and credit for being one of the great rock bands of all time.

| | | | And, as good and influential as Grand Funk Railroad was, they still have never been considered for the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame |

Or was it Eric Clapton? I dunno; it was a long time ago...
Ain't rumors great? | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
