Hmm. I think I might part my own 1978 P out at those prices.

Hmm. I think I might part my own 1978 P out at those prices. | And a Kahler Tremolo for $300. I can buy a whole 80's MIJ Strat WITH a Floyd Rose for that much.
Oh! and an '83 neck plate for $75. Lol.

R... | Hey, don't worry about us - the royal wedding will easily be paid for by all the US tourists coming over to visit. You cannot move in London for them on some days. God help us the day the rest of you actually get passports as well.
Kidding aside, it's kind of weird that the item location is listed as UK, because the seller's location is listed as Germany. Wassat about?

I mathematically extrapolated the area of the hole in the shim against the total area of the shim and found it to be .o4mm larger than it should be for the 1962 shim.
What he has is the highly coveted 1960 shim which is worth about 8x what he is asking for what he thinks is a 1962 shim. Haha--what a sucker. Only $75 for a $600 shim!
Note: Also, the '62's did not have red paint---they had chartreuse color on BOTH sides---another indicator.
Boyoboy---if only I could do a metallurgical analysis in my laBORatory I bet I would find his "62" has a 2% less amount of manganese in it's makeup than a real 1962---more proof it is the valuable 1960 shim! I'd bet dollars to donuts that is the case. All indicators point to it!
Somebody is gonna get a heck of a deal on the re-sale market! If only I could spare $75 right now!!!!!!!!!!!!

| | | Ask him if he's got any authentication providence to back up his claims about the history of the shim. Not that I could really give a rat's
backside worth of concern about vintage shims, that have been removed from their original instruments. It could still be good fun to ask him. |
