Actually, anything you make has an implied copyright, whether you put the (C) on it or not.
If it was just the bass clef I'd say it was a symbol that's in the public domain, but with the "Got Bass?" added, Paul may have a case. |

The got * ? catch phrase has become somewhat iconic in advertising everybody's wares and ideas.
We shouldn't really be so shocked at all this.
