Geoff Benge does the best work in Chicago - but he takes a little longer than most
3551 N Damen Ave

otherwise Rock & Roll Vintage is a great place and have a really cool room with sweet vintage basses u can try out. Ben is the main tech over there who does work on my basses, and he's FAST. like 2 days for a setup.

If you're up on the near North Side, I'd recommend Bob Gorny. He did all my work when I lived up there.

Yeah, Chad & Matt do great work - I had Matt fix my Ampeg V4-B (even though I had to take it back in twice not sure why) and I heard Chad even does great refinishes...

although word has spread that he might be charging a little more for regular labor stuff

I take my stuff to Rock & Roll Vintage in Lincoln Square - Ben is the man over there and really fast.

If his work is good enough for the 1960 Stack Knob jazz I played there once and Gold Top Les Pauls they have hanging on the wall, then it's gotta be good enough for your run of the mill Jazz or P bass

It's been a while, so I'd like to add Carl Pedigo formally of Lakland to the list of Chicago luthiers 773-724-1167. Carl does excellent work.

Huge +1 for Carl, he's fantastic!
