Even though I'm currently using Gallien-Krueger, when it comes to hybrid amps, Ashdown holds a special place in my bass-loving heart. That's why my discovery of their Peacemaker and Fallen Angel guitar amps has me curious. My brother is looking into getting a tube amp and a new guitar (likely a Schecter or Jackson), and this is something we haven't considered yet.
I've been looking into their guitar stuff, and they definitely seem to be the underdog when it comes to tube-based guitar amps. Reviews are overall great, but the amps and cabs are hard to find (Musician's Friend and a few small shops carry them, but that's all). More surprising is the price range of that stuff - more affordable than quality Marshall and Mesa gear.
Has anyone here on TB heard/used any Ashdown guitar stuff, particularly from the Fallen Angel line of amps and cabinets?
I know that Quota uses them (
www.quotaband.com), and based on their soundclips, the amp and cab sound great. I'm interested in hearing more, though, and getting opinions on their overall tone, distortion, flexibility, etc.
Any input is appreciated!
