Looking For Shell-type Double Gig Bags w/Backpack Straps- Suggestions?

Sign in to disble this ad
I want a good double gig bag, but something in me is still wanting a bit more protection, so I wanted to see what gig bags with hard sides there are out there. Obviously there's the Incase Dub bag which looks very nice, although I'd prefer two zippered compartments and a bag that didn't weigh 11 pounds. Tribal Planet has really lightweight hard-sided gig bags, but they don't appear to have any double ones. Any suggestions?

I had a Undercover I got from Bass Central when Gard was still there. Very nice bag! It's lightweight, held two basses comfortably, was WELL padded, and had every type of strap you could hope for. It wasn't hard sided, but it protected my basses amply.

If I go for a non-sided bag, I'm pretty sure I'll get the Low End leather double- looks like twice the padding of an Undercover. Still hoping there's an alternative to the Incase Dub though.

Hey Bryan...

I'll try and weigh the LowEnd tonight, I am going to the gym anyway and will just chuck the bag on the scale. I might get a few weird looks...

Thanks, Will. I asked Brian but he's all out until next week, so he couldn't get a weight. I found some Fodera double gig bags at the Fodera site- they're obviously made by Estrella, but it's $365 for their double case that has no more protection than an Undercover or similar

The butterfly makes it twice as protective...

More later...W

And the verdict is:

19lbs on my gym scale. Dunno if it's right. It is pretty friggin beefy.

Yeah, but I'm under the impression that the DUB is pretty bulky...the LowEnd isn't bulky at all, it's just thick!

Thanks for measuring, Will. If only Tribal Planet or Body Glove made a double. Looks like I've got some deciding to do.

Hmm...

You might check Cronkhite or Reunion Blues, I dunno what they're making these days...but they're bound to be pretty expensive.

I checked out Cronkhite the other day- no info on the website...looks like he's doing mostly custom stuff (and bound to be expensive). Thanks though!

Hey Will, I mentioned to Brian that you weighed it at 19 lbs.
His response was, "19 Lbs, WOW, was that with basses in it?"
