Love to play/hate to listen

Am I the only one here who loves to play one genre, but can't stand to listen to it?

I play more many genres, but I really love playing rap-rock hollywood undead style music. But I can't stand to listen to that stuff.

Anyone else?

And how do you reconcile that?

The blues.

I wouldn't say that I hate to listen to it, but its not my favorite. On the other hand, I really enjoy playing it because of the simplicity and open format.

Basically, the whole acoustic pop thing my band got going on.

Fun to play (and good for my playing as I'm exposed to various styles there), but not my cup of tea.

I'm in contact with an 80s hair band. I hate the style, I mean hate.

Christopher Guest or Michael McKean once commented (talking about "This Is Spinal Tap") that while they hated listening to metal, "it sure is fun to play that stuff!".

I don't find much interesting to listen to in most disco, but having played it a bit, it's a lot of fun. Both for the interlocking with the rest of the band when it's done right, and for the response from the audience- especially the women...

Haha i think it's pretty fun playing chugga-chugga open-E 'hardcore'.

I can't stand to listen to it though.

Also drone... I like seeing it live... but i can't 'chill out' and listen to Sunn or Khannate.

But I sure love pluging in every cab i own and droning out.

Big band. I love playing in a big band, but listening to it is too painful - there are 4 trumpet players pointed *at* you!

While I have learned a lot playing songs I never much cared for, it's the power pop stuff that I can't stand to listen to.
