Led Zeppelin "Dazed and Confused" The first line says it all.

Just kidding...try "Thank You" off Led Zeppelin 2 instead.

Marvin Gaye. It won't be complete without him. "Let's Get It On" is the obvious one, but I'd say go with one of those Tammi Terrell duets. Make "Let's..." the last song on the album.

- Chicago's "If You Leave Me Now"
- Boston's "More Than A Feeling" (Terrific song!)
- Foreigner's "I Want To Know What Love Is"
- The Righteous Brothers' "Unchained Melody"
- Air Supply's "Lost In Love"
- Beatles' "I Will"
- Cheap Trick's "Voices" (One of my all-time favorite "relatively obscure" ballads)
- Bon Jovi's "I'll Be There For You" and "Bed Of Roses"
- Scorpions' "Still Loving You"
- Mr. Big's "To Be With You"
- Want to add an instrumental? Check "Watermelon In Easter Hay" by Frank Zappa

Here's some that may be less-known:

"I Would for You" Jane's Addiction (XXX)
"Classic Girl" Jane's Addiction (Ritual de lo Habitual)
"Janine" Soul Coughing (Ruby Vroom)
"Sunken-eyed Girl" Mike Doughty (look up on Kazaa for a live version)
"Say Goodbye" Dave Matthews Band (Crash)
"Lover Lay Down" Dave Matthews Band (Under the Table and Dreaming)
"In Your Eyes" Peter Gabriel (So)
"More than a Woman" Bee Gees (don't know the album)

Ah yes, and who could forget that instant classic:

"The Bad Touch" aka The Discovery Channel song
Bloodhound Gang (Hooray for Boobies)

A beatiful song, and if you listen to the lyrics of the first verse it suddenly becomes even more beatiful.

It's on the "Saturday Night Fever" soundtrack. I'd also put "How Deep Is Your Love" from the same album.

I've always been a sucker for Clapton's "Wonderful Tonite". Oh, and Layla too. There's ya a love song.

Slow Ride - Foghat

(I think that gets put on about 20 mins after the Marvin Gaye
song.

Motown had some greats:

4 Tops - I Can't Help Myself(Sugar Pie, Honey Bunch)
Bernadette.

Temptations - The Way You do the Things You Do.
My Girl.

Smokey Robinson and the Miracles - I Second That Emotion.

Also,

Otis Redding - I've Been Loving You Too Long
Try a Little Tenderness.
These Arms of Mine.
Champagne and Wine.
Happy Song
I Can't Turn You Loose
Security
Respect

Beatles -
Dear Prudence
If I Needed Someone
This Boy
Norwegian Wood
Drive My Car
Fool on the Hill
Strawberry Fields
All You Need is Love
Your Mother Should Know
PS I Love You
Baby Its You
Do You Want to Know A Secret
Hard Days Night > Whole album pretty much.

Moody Blues - I Know You're Out There Somewhere.
Nights in White Satin

Joe Cocker - Leave Your hat On, The Letter, Blues
Medley ( Drown in My Own Tears > I've been loving you too long), Delta Lady, Unchain My Heart, When The Night Comes,
Up Where We Belong.

And that's not even close to just getting started, given that
more artists have written more about love than just about any other subject.
