hi i was told by kevin borden today his the low down column in premier guitar is being cancelled.we do not get much in magazines aside from bass player as it is,now a mag full of adds can't run a 2 page column on our favorite instrument. i feel this is wrong as kev's column in my view was great.if you feel the same i'm asking you to contact premier guitar re their lack of regard for bassists.....it was the only reason i bought the mag....we're not all guitar players....thanks...............shel

Sorry to hear KB's column got canned. It was a good column with interesting subjects that was well written. Perhaps he can write for Bass Gear...what say you Tom?

I bought a vintage bass from Kevin through a high end store here in NYC. He was great to deal with and is the kind of person you want to do business with rather than going to Wal Mart I mean Guitar Center.

Bad news! That was one of the first I turned to every month.

Just posted this to their FB Wall:

Just heard a rumor you guys may have cancelled Kevin Borden's column. Could this be true? I've got to say, your magazine is fantastic, but The Low Down was typically the first thing I turned to every month, even before I played bass.
Maybe if others joined in they might reconsider!

Edited to add: and it was quickly deleted!

Hmm, editing that off FB is bad form. My opinion of PG has just dropped several notches.

PG did respond to my post, yesterday. Terrible mistake on my part: it wasn't deleted but was moved to the "Friend Activity" tab (can't say I've noticed that before, but I'm in no way a FB expert):

We're sorry to hear you're bummed about the discontinuation of The Low End, Jeff. We've been running that column for a few years now, and as happens at all publications, recurring columns eventually reach the end of their life cycles. We've loved having Kevin's astute and passionate observations in the mag, and we remain open to having him contribute bass articles in the future. Also, to reassure you that we aren't abandoning bass content, we want to let you know that we're about to introduce a new bass-centric column for 2012, and it'll be chock full of rumbling coolness that I think you'll really enjoy. So stay tuned!
