Low Fitting Gig Bag?

Sign in to disble this ad
I much prefer gig bags to hard cases. My problem is that at 6' 2'', with a gig bag on my back, I'm always bumping into door frames.

Who makes a gig bag that sits low enough on your back so you can walk thru door ways without hitting the door frame with the gig bag?

Thanks,
LeonD

I'm not that tall (176 cm or 5' 9") but also have the same problem with bass gig bags when I put them on my back. Maybe we should start putting them on upside down? (Just got this brain fart so I had to try it. It worked well but looked rather stupid ). Maybe someone should contact the manufacturers of the gigbags to see if they could do anything about this problem? It is pretty annoying. I haven't seen a good one yet, but I admit I haven't looked carefully for one either.

IGIG gigbag is pretty awesome. Not sure how low it is though.

Too bad delivery to my country is almost as expensive as the gigbag itself. :/

Im in the same boat. I need to get on and off tube trains and find those gig bags with the rucksack like straps are useless for me as im 6ft2".
The two bags i use are an old Levy's one i got with my HW-1 a few years ago and an Ernie Ball one that's really well padded but a tight fit lengthwise. Its an angled shape so i guess it came with a bass originally but it was given to me with another bass years ago.
Both sit just below my head when i have them on my back. I think the trick is to get one where the strap goes up the neck. Not easy to find IME.

Actually, when I had an F bass, I had an F bass gig bag made by Levy's. This one sat low. I wonder if Levy's normal bags are also low.

Ive just got a Fender Deluxe double gig bag and this has a clip halfway up the neck. With the strap(s) attached to this the top of the bag is only a few inches above my head.
I never realised these bags had that. Very pleased with it.
