OH, MAN!

When did he pass?

I had the radio on all day, but shut it off about an hour ago.

R.I.P., Luther.

Very sad.

Mike

I guess that's "Superstar"...the tune written by Leon Russell & made into a hit way back when by The Carpenters(which is a killer version in its own right).

Vandross also did a great job of covering Stevie's "Creepin'".

Page-
Try & pick up the album with "Never Too Much".

Luther also played a big role on David Bowie's Young Americans album.

This one really hurts. Truly, truly among the best. For those of you who have never heard his stuff or only heard one or two tunes, pick up "The Best of Luther Vandross: The Best of Love" and then pick up "Dance With My Father"

Peace,

James

Yes, a sad day indeed. Luther leaves a huge legacy though, he really was one of the best.

For those who might not know any of Luthers stuff here's a tid bit,
Started at sesame street in the late 60's
sang with David Bowie along with Ava Cherry on "young Americans"
Sang with the group change, sang lead on "glow of love" and "searching"
Did countless jingles for tv and radio
Marcus Millers partner from the beginning with the two of them producing his first album "Never Too Much"
Dearest friend to Patti Labelle, Roberta Flack, The late Donny Hathaway amongst others.
One of the nicest cats I ever had the chance to meet in my life.
He will be sorely missed, he was one person that will never be replaced.
He by far is responsible for alot of babies born in the 80's
He was a extremely humble person and God's gift to us musicians and the world.

Thankyou Luther for all the music you gave us.

I didn't know he did Seasame Street, I thought that started in the mid-70's.

Either way Mr. Vandross leaves behind big shoes to fill, and a great legacy.

RIP

I can only imagine how Marcus Miller feels. One can tell from the liner notes on Silver Rain how much he was hurt by Luther Vandross' stroke. May Luther rest in peace.
