So first off, I hope I'm putting this in the right forum.

I was watching the movie "Bird" last night, and at the end right before he dies, Bird goes into the a theater to see a horn band that is playing rock n' roll. Much to my surprise, the bass player was playing an Ernie Ball Music Man (the movie took place in the early 50's, and there was no Music man until 1976)!! I was sure because it had the classic 3+1 tuner setup and the oval-ish pickguard. It had the sunburst paintjob, so I'm sure they were trying to make it look like a Fender. It's always funny when movie directors try to sneak these things by viewers...of course, I'm guessing the director didn't do any research to see what electric bass was around at that time. Besides, they're all the same right!?

The director being Clint Eastwood, I'd show a little more respect before he goes all "Dirty Harry" on you.

And isn't Clint Eastwood's son a bass player?

BTW, this is totally the wrong forum.

Yeah his son is Kyle Eastwood... actually very good upright player. Clint is a long time lover of Jazz music and has quite a killer collection, from what I have been told.

... yeah this might be better in another forum area.

Gosh...I hope the Forum Gods can find it in their hearts to forgive this mere mortal . That just makes it all the funnier to me. I knew Clint Eastwood directed this and that he is a huge fan of jazz. I was not aware that his son was bass player...however, between the director being a jazz listener and having a bass player as a son, one would think those little details would be covered. It's not a huge deal or anything. I was just wondering if anybody else had noticed it.

Hi.

Just a thought. Could it be an inside joke, movie people are quite creative in that area too . They sneak in all sorts of weird stuff to the period correct sets.

Hmmmmmm...could be. I did'nt think of that. Maybe they wanted people to notice! Brilliant! I guess I'll never know unless I talk to Mr. Eastwood himself, and chances of that happening are pretty slim I'm guessing.

Doesn't Eastwood compose some too? I could be wrong but I thought I heard that somewhere.

I think he wrote and performed the theme to "Bridges of Madison County".

He plays piano as well.

Edit: yep I found proof > http://www.soundtrackcollector.com/c...p?movieid=8471
