He's gotta be a drummer deep down inside. One of the most famous bass players to 13 year old kids around the world that's really a drummer. I hated it in my high school days when kids who were just starting bass would come up and ask me (I was known in my high school for slapping really fast, but little did they know I was only doing octaves, not that impressive) 'how can I get that sound that fieldy has' and I'd tell them to go buy a drumset.

Anyone else think he should have hung it up a while ago?

Ya... It's a percussive way of playing the instrument. Who's to say Marcus Miller's is right and this guy in the YouTube video is wrong...

Just ways of playing and getting your point across.

Really, there is no one right way to play drums. ;-) This guy just uses a bass... Who cares, he seems to be into it and there seems to be a stage he is on, so it is working for him...

i love the way it's titled "solo." just because he's playing on his own, don't make it a solo. i know he's in a big band and all, but in terms of tone and technique, i'm sorry, he's truly awful.

I think haters should watch videos of music they enjoy instead of torturing themselves with stuff they don't like for the sole purpose of annoying the board with self-proclaimed educated opinions.
