| | | Since the Superbowl will be in Indianapolis, IN, there was much talk about John Mellencamp doing the halftime show since he lives in Indiana. Everybody I know thought he was the perfect choice. Oh, well, I wonder who thought Madonna was a good idea. Last year's halftime show was a disaster.
Let's bring back Up With People to do the halftime show. |

With that being said.
How much did the record company have to pay the NFL? |

One of these days Metallica will pull up and blow the roof off of the place, or have the fans rip up the stage. Prince has been the best in the last 10 years. |

Halftime has become it's own mega-commercial mass-marketing event.
Name recognition and star power are the only pre-requisites for halftime performers.

Keep with a rocker who the audience has actually heard of. I'm very happy with the choice.
The Super Bowl is not a music show, it's a sports event. The performer should be a big name, and someone the audience (heavily male and over 25) is familiar with. She qualifies.

Now I've got two reasons not to turn on the TV that day.

Good choice...if this was 1985 or so.

In all fairness, though...any time I want to look down at Madonna I have to remind myself how on -top -of- her -game she was in 1985....watch the live aid youtube clips...she really was confident and a great entertainer! |
