Since the Superbowl will be in Indianapolis, IN, there was much talk about John Mellencamp doing the halftime show since he lives in Indiana. Everybody I know thought he was the perfect choice. Oh, well, I wonder who thought Madonna was a good idea. Last year's halftime show was a disaster.

Let's bring back Up With People to do the halftime show.

She is in the studio and trying to promote album.

With that being said.

How much did the record company have to pay the NFL?

Lost touch

Perfect example NFL is out of touch with the fans. One of these days Metallica will pull up and blow the roof off of the place, or have the fans rip up the stage. Prince has been the best in the last 10 years.

I'm cool with that. Madonna has a lot of great hits.
Looks like I'm in the very small minority of people who would
like to see Madonna.

Absolutely true, though Springsteen was pretty good too.

Since the network's #1 priority is selling advertising space and making money, and they don't want people leaving the TV room during halftime, this makes perfect sense to me. Halftime has become it's own mega-commercial mass-marketing event.

Name recognition and star power are the only pre-requisites for halftime performers.

THAT's a good call!

Keep with a rocker who the audience has actually heard of. I'm very happy with the choice.

The Super Bowl is not a music show, it's a sports event. The performer should be a big name, and someone the audience (heavily male and over 25) is familiar with. She qualifies.

Don't even have to change the channel for the Lingerie Bowl this year.

Awesome!

Now I've got two reasons not to turn on the TV that day.

Madonna is a "Rocker"?

Good choice...if this was 1985 or so.

while I am not the biggest fan, ANYTHING would be better then black eyed peas...I mean, does anyone agree with me that it was truly horrible last year?

In all fairness, though...any time I want to look down at Madonna I have to remind myself how on -top -of- her -game she was in 1985....watch the live aid youtube clips...she really was confident and a great entertainer!

one lip-syncher is just as good as another, although I would rather see the NFL's money go to an artist who was making more vital music. She ought to be entertaining to watch, though.
