Make headaches go away with loud music?

Sign in to disble this ad
Whenever I have a headache, it seems that a quiet environment only makes it worse! Like when my band has practises on school nights, with my head hurting, we start cranking the volume, and before I can even realize it, my headache is gone... And same with cranking the stereo and playing along with it; a few minutes of listening to loud music makes it all go away!

Is this the case with anyone else, or am I just wierd?

Also, is this something I should be worried about?

When I have a headache, my favorite thing to play along to is Dream Theater, mostly from the album Train of Thought. It doesn't really matter what the music is, as long as it's loud (and I'd listen to it in the first place...)

Maybe because in a quiet atmosphere, theres nothing to distract you from the pain. Wit loud music/bass, you think about something else. Kinda like hiccups.

Maybe the oise in our head is overcome by the pain in your ears .

It is probably because when it's quiet you just pay attention to the pain, and when you listen to the music, your paying attention to the music.

Yeah, taking your mind of the headache helps a lot.
