Make a sound table look nice?

Sign in to disble this ad
At my church, the soundboard is shoved in the corner of the room in a "booth" with its own flooring. It rumbles like crazy with even a little bit of bass/kick in the sub.

We want to get rid of that booth and just put the board on a table closer to the middle of the room.

But the Pastor's wife does NOT want that. So we have to come up with a way to do that which she'll approve of.

I was thinking of adding a table skirt or something. Any other ideas?

That's SOP for making even the most hellaciously ugly furniture perfectly acceptable for high-zoot events: Wrap a table skirt around it. Just some cheesey bunting, pleated drape-like material, I think it's called "chenille" (sp?). I've parked massive ATA flight cases in the middle of the Waldorf-Astoria Ballroom for $10,000/plate functions and had the Event Coordinator thank me for having such an attractive FOH...just gotta wrap it in fabric.

Yep, a table skirt. Be VERY neat and tidy with all the cables. Invest in some of those plastic tubes to route cables so they don't look like they're random collections. And between services keep everything neat and tidy. We're fortunate that our sound board is up in a balcony well away from the congregation. But it can quickly get littered with notes, CD's, writing utensils, etc. So keep the clutter down too.
