Making tabs!?!

Ok, how do you guys make tabs ?

I mean, do you use some sort of program so that you can hear only bass ?

And do you just use notepad or something to make those or is there a special program to that too ??

Notepad and Windows Media Player.

Good set of studio headphones really helps.

I use Guitar Pro for viewing multi-track songs, but when I'm just tabbing out a song for bass I'll use Notepad.

And yeah, headphones help a lot. Altering the EQ of whatever song you're playing helps a little bit too, but if you boost up the lows in the song it can get a bit muddy with the bass drum.

Ok, thanks. I have quite good headphones, but I still think that it will take ages from me to tab van halen - right now as it is quite tricky..
