Making a talkbass band directory?

Sign in to disble this ad
Is there any interest, and any way possible for talkbass to have a band directory? Such as a regularly updated list of everyones band including some vital information such as the area you are from (state, province, country), your genre, website and contact information. Also whether your band is active or split.

Could help touring bands hook up shows with fellow talkbassers etc. Any interest?

It's not really that much work. You just tell everyone to PM their info and you collect it all together. If someone wants to go into some more detail, they can make it searchable by location/genre/name/etc. My old town has one and it's great for promoters.

Sounds like a great idea! Let me know where to sign up, and if there's anything I could do to help.

I would like this a lot. We tend to tour a lot and we don't have a booking agent yet, so this would help.

hmmmm... I think it would be easer if someone just put and an extra session in our profiles... an make some 'portal-like' page to get easy digging these info

Excellent idea. It's kind of weird that this post has only 3 people on the entire site interested though.

Wow. It seems like this would be an amazing thing to have. I can't believe that there isn't any interest in it- especially now with summer touring season getting under way.

bump-a!

If this is any help.

You can use the "members list" at the top of the page. Off to the right click on "search members" then advanced search.

From there you can search by location. Of course this will only work if people fill out their profiles and have a link to a website.

It could be cool but it's something else to update all the time, and many of us already use MySpace.

Something like this would take hourly, daily, weekly maintenance to keep up 'unless' each member retained responsibility for their own info. And then, just like sound clip links and everything else people post and link to, it would get out of date and become a detriment and frustration rather then benefit.
