Male Vocalists You Can't Stand

Just wondering what guy singers cause you to instantly hit "Skip" when you hear them? Tops on my list:

- Adam Levine (Maroon 5)
- Adam Durwitz (Counting Crows)
- Jason Mraz
- Eddie Vedder

Obvious ones: Liam Gallagher and Bono

Controversial one, depending on the mood I'm in: Robert Plant.

My list would pretty much be the same as yours (op), but I would add Luke Bryant and Rascal Flats.

wow, all you responders so far are a little outside the mainstream as the aforementioned have sold a LOT of records.

but two guys I actually want to punch in the face when I have to hear them (doctor's office, etc.) are
Darius Rucker
Michael Buble

apparently I'm outta the mainstream too

Axl Rose... Axolutely!!!!!

When my college band was looking for a lead vocalist, every single freaking guy that came in to audition mimicked the Axl thing, doing the "high, high" bits and moving around like a beheaded snake in the middle of the road! It didn't matter that we would say we were not doing G & R type tunes. Me and our drummer ended up sharing VOX duties.

AC/DC's Brian Johnson.

He was good on Back In Black, and For Those About To Rock. But there comes a point where i just can't handle listening to someone who sounds like they eat glass shards for breakfast.

Oh god, yes, this. It's obviously a particular style of singing where you need to sound as up-your-own-arse as possible to get your ever-so-important message across.

I went to Bass pro shop and to my surprise they didn't have a single bass guitar.

"MMMMMRYEAH" band -- Love It!

Then there's the whole nasally, tuning-challeged 80's hair band crew i.e., Vince Neil, Brett Michels, Steven Pearcy, Mark Slaughter etc.

Neil is the worst of that bunch by a ways IMO although Kevin DuBrow was pretty brutal too. I never saw Quiet Riot live but considering DuBrow can't even hold tune on their studio tracks I have to assume they were pretty bad in concert.

no brainer - Geddy. Almost enough to prevent me from listening to Rush. but the musicianship kept me in there.

Neil Young. Dated a girl a couple of decades ago who loved him. I tried to get into him but just no way to do so... At least Rush has strong musicianship going for it.

Mainly, any of the whiny, "emotional" singers that usually have some sort of message.

I never know what the hell Springsteen is saying.

I'm a big Zeppelin fan, but there are some tracks where Robert Plant just way overdoes it.

Definitely Neil Young.
Kurt Cobain.
Anyone in a Nordic death metal band....
Anyone who feels the need to warble (add unnecessary scales to single words).
Anyone with that annoying auto-tune vocoder sound.
Mick Jones.
