MARTIN "Holy Grail"

Just wanted to share this,

Though not bass related, this is pretty cool!

I play on Fri eves. with a couple of friends, they are both major league Martin buffs. While it just so happens that yesterday was the Martin guitar owners picnic, in Naz. PN.

While in the musium, Paul noticed the curator strumming a few chords on a vintage Martin guitar. He approached him and asked him a few questions about the 1942 D-45 behind the glass. Paul asked him if he had ever played it, and if so what it really sounded like.

Next thing you know, (to Pauls surprise) He unlocked the glass and handed it to him!! Paul told me he was so nervous, he was trembling and sweating all over the thing!

He quickly realized that he would never get this chance again..... So he gained his composure, and buckled down then gave this this thing a gentle, but thourough shakedown.

(He told me that when no one was looking,. He gave it a little kiss....... He said he wanted to leave his DNA on this baby)

It was truly the most beautiful sounding guitar he had ever heard, he told me he could not believe how loud it was!

Must have been somthing to see this 300 lb 56 year old man, with tears of joy! Wish I was there!

Those good folks at Martin Guitars made my buddies dream come true!!!

Just wanted to share this cool story with you folks!

Cool! A very good friend of mine covets his Martin (I don't know the model) even though he can no longer use his hands well enough to play it. (BTW, he's a 120lb 56yo).

Martin's do have an awesome sound.

Yes, They are beautiful sounding guitars. Im telling you, I have never seen someone so excited and proud.

He still does not understand why he was "the chosen one".

I said, "maybe its like the most pretty girl in the place, never gets asked to dance, because the guys fear rejection.... Therefore, she never dances."

Paul still does not believe it himself. Talk about a once in a lifetime opportunity...

I think Martin payed about $280,000 for this instrument at auction, to have on display!
