Marvel Strap Locks

I bought a bass a while back that came with a set of these, and dang if I can figure how to use the...anyone?

Put your thumb on the center button then put your 1st & 2nd finger either side push together & install on the special button then realase they are grate

It appears that the knurled part should push or pull... is that part spring loaded?

I found this:
The Marvel lock system is designed to easily be put on and taken off the guitars without the need of - Any special tool -. By lightly squeezing the cap on the lower part of it, the system can be easily locked and unlocked.

Not much help I know.

However, I believe them to be the same as these Zeppelinn ZSL600 strap locks, which I think I read are made by Marvel:

ZZounds actually talked me thru it.
The button that goes on the bass is a really tight fit to the quick release. It needed some persuasion to come out, but functions fine with the weight of the instrument behind it...
