Massive Philly area apartment fire - Get your renters insurance!

Sign in to disble this ad
Some luxury apartments just outside of Philly were completely leveled this week due to a massive 8 alarm fire http://www.nbc10.com/news/17188512/detail.html. Hundreds of residents are displaced and most of them lost everything (2 buildings of the 5 had minimal damage, but the other buildings were completely lost).

Just another reason to reiterate the importance of renters' insurance (especially for those of us who have thousands of dollars worth of bass gear alone!) as I have been reading horror stories of people who didn't have it and are now completely screwed!

It's been a long time since I've been in an apartment, but I remember it actually being pretty inexpensive too. Definitely worth the cost.

A friend of mine was on his way from south Jeresy to Drexel University that night and saw the smoke and flames from the 30th street exit of the Schuylkill Expressway. Now THAT'S a fire!

Yeah, I suck, I know that. But at least I suck a little less than I did yesterday.

Yeah, it was ridiculous! It started in an adjacent construction site and the flames were so intense that the sheer heat caused fires to erupt in the next occupied building and then quickly spread. A good friend of mine lived there, but she was lucky that she was in one of the buildings with minimal to no damage. She'll be able to get in there soon to assess her losses, but there should be no fire damage. Possible water damage if they had to douse the building as a precaution, but hopefully her losses are at a minimum.

It's amazing that there were no casualties...lucky it was early in the evening when people were still at work otherwise it would have been even more of a disaster!
