I have just heard that The Boss Maynard Ferguson has passed away....I am still trying to confirm any fellow musicians know anything about this.... Sorry for the post on a Bass forum but we are all musicians...and he is a big name. |

I had the radio turned off most of the day, so this is the first I'm hearing of this!
It definitely stinks!
RIP, Maynard.

I was lucky enough to spend an afternoon with him once in '72.
He'll be missed.

To think, it was only a few months ago that I saw him live. Fourth row. I was absolutely floored. He was truly amazing. |

He was not only an exceptional player and composer, but he devoted his career to music education, he was always out to help kids get more into music in a real sense.
The dude left a legacy. I can only hope that I can touch so many people and leave a mark like that once I'm gone.
RIP, to a true musician and mentor to so, so many.

She could've made it, but wanted to focus on cello rather than trumpet.
I saw Big Bop Nuveau a few years ago, and it was great. He did a really cool piece with some Buddhist instruments.
