Okay guize mang!
Time for some polish punk/ska/reggae/punky rock/grunge stuff.

Now - one of my favorite Polish bands. Big Cyc (Big Tit).

Their music is a mix of punk, ska, pop, rockandroll. They are often very funny and comical, their videos are very funny and entertaining. Awesome band!

song: Ptak i drzewo (A bird and a tree)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8-d3Cw6_tmQ

song: Warszawa (Warsaw). It's about our capital Warsaw
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vVJ7yawwUkM

song: King. A tune from 1992.

and a later solo performance of this song:

Plenty of good music there. I can almost understand the lyrics, too, as our languages aren't all that dissimilar.

Presenting now a Polish prog rock/metal band, Riverside

Niemen was great, I've been collecting his records for a while, currently have 11 Niemen LP's. SBB did some really cool stuff, too.

Band named Lady Pank.
They were famous especially in the 80's. Their sound was inspired by The Police. Still playing today.

song: A to ohyda (It's odiousness)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OmG0jOJQZfQ

song: Mniej niż zero (Less than zero) - Live footage form 1985 music festival in Sopot. This song is one of their first and biggest hits. Everyone knows this song in Poland.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nd3Yp4aUU7E

Also their guitarist is one of the best guitarists in Poland. His name is Jan Borysewicz. He recorded some solo work also under nickname Jan Bo.
Check this out (the insane guitar solo!). It's a must!
song: Wojna w mieście (War in the city)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NHWIaqI6_A4

Another band from 80's. Kombi.
They played a kind of synth pop mixed with rock and funk.
song: Nasze rendez vous (Our rendez vous) - great slap bassline played by awesome Polish bassplayer Waldemar Tkaczyk.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ydV1q0mrVVs

See how good he is. This is a bass solo recorded at music festival in Sopot. 1986. Looking like McGyver mixed with Larry Graham, funkin' it up
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ROKfdS7ft-s

The guitar player/vocalist of Kombi (Grzegorz Skawiński) and Bassist (Waldemar Tkaczyk) started a new band after Kombi broke up. They called the band O.N.A. and played heavy rock music. Very awesome band! Female vocalist (first ugly Polish girl in here LOL, but her voice is pure power)

song: Nie chce dawac tego co najlepsze (I don't want to give what's best)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-QSI0dfww7U

song: Kiedy powiem sobie dość (When I'll say "enough" to myself)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghh0ttnRdiQ

Also, here goes a very cute female artist. her name is Kasia Kowalska, a pop star from 90's. I LOVE her!

song: Coś optymistycznego (Something optimistic) - cool song with a great bassline played by our bass MONSTER player Wojtek Pilichowski. From 1995.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xr4mD1OX8y0

Another polish female vocalist Natalia Kukulska. I love some of her songs! Now shake that to the beat!

song: Sexi Flexi
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JNd3qk9-HkE

Band called Sistars. Two female vocalists. Sisters Natalia and Paulina. The bassplayer is Bartek Królik who also plays in Łąki Łan (mentioned before).
They play very cool funk/soul music! A MUST!

song: Listen to your heart
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LfbumOanJeQ

Band called Czarno-Czarni (Blacky-Black).
They play humoristic version of bigbeat (polish rock and roll form the 60's). Band is a long-running side project. 3 members from band Big Cyc and vocalist from band Bielizna (Underwear).
song: Nogi (Legs)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n4-voMrvIXA

song: Plaża w kolorze blond (Blonde coloured beach)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n5oS7ylDw_Q

song: Kwiat nienawiści (Flower of hate) - a song featuring BEAUTIFUL Polish vocalist Ania Rusowicz (She's a daughter of 60's polish rocknroll/bigbeat star Ada Rusowicz). Powerful voice and she's a beauty!
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=s3QN_mP-jIc

Okay, still more to come. Stay Tuned.

Hello there.

Some of the classic Polish rock bands of the 70's and 80's, it would be a shame not to mention them here:

TEST
Inspired by bands like Deep Purple, with Dariusz Kozakiewicz (sometimes called "Polish Jimi Hendrix") on guitar. In my opinion it was the heaviest Polish band of the beginning of the 70's.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MZL9E...eature=related

KLAN
One of the first Polish prog-rock bands, in the 70's they released only one full album, called "Mrowisko" (1971). In my opinion it's one of the best, but unfortunately also one of the most underrated albums in the history of Polish rock.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0VHZgpOlOb4

If you like their music, the full album is also available on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OHaVk...eature=related

RSC

Polish rock / art-rock band from the beginning of the 80's:

Ding dong.
Time for some polish rap.

Those below are my favorite Polish rap artists.
Listen if you like.

Beat Squad
Really "chillin" rap squad. Their beats are light sounding and their style is very laid back.
song: Człowiek taki jak ja (A man like me)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xkl38lA1VZs

Łona. Very intelligent rapper. Cool beats, often with jazzy samples.
song: My się znamy? (Do we know eachother?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rr_nDuUq_3Q

song: Raperzy sa niedobrzy (Rappers are bad)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vTTVhCdxo-s

Kaliber 44 (Caliber 44)
One of the best and most famous. They were one of the first polish rap groups and they created something they called "psycho rap" or some sh*t like that. I don't really know what that means but they sound cool. They smoked a lot of pot so figure it out by yourselves
song: Film (Movie)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9yX4VcSK6jQ

L.U.C. He's creating his beats by doing beatbox stuff. Good one.
song: Kto jest ostatni? (Who is the last?)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_DSJM39KFps

That's just few of them. I'm not much into rap so I don't know too many good rap artists. I just posted stuff I'm listening to. Although we have MANY of them in Poland so if someone from Polish members knows something worth listening to - feel free to post.

Great thread!

I'm surprised nobody mentioned Budka Suflera. I'm not into Polish music that much (I probably should be) but I know these guys are a huge band in Poland.

Here is a popular song called Cisza (translates to Silence) - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7as6OPZ-_rA
Great fretless bass work

And one of their biggest hits called Jolka Jolka (different singer) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZkOuBC78qV8

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DyjNB5ICR0c with subtitles

And mighty Mitch & Mitch. 9 piece band from present absolute top here IMO.

Yo yo yo Yaw!

Sexbomba (Sexbomb). They play punk mixed with classic rock'n'roll.

song: Polska traci czas (Poland's losing time)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zxNPpbusmcM

song: Kocyk nad Wisłą (Blanket by the Vistula) - that's the only vid with this song on Youtube. Unfortunately a playback recording from a ****** Tv program (they had to play with playback, that's how most tv shows in Poland are unfortenately :/ ).
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SvzyH-YK3Do

song: Jeżeli wierzysz w przeznaczenie (If you believe in destiny)
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvrPxVT1auE

Not too complicated music but I really like 'em.
