Today, practice was canceled. Made two online CD sales! It's a start. I suppose it's hard because it's the trendy "screamo" stuff . Maybe if I joined a blues group it would sell better. Will ship out special thank-you goodies tomorrow.
Recently quit previous band in Fremont for my current one in Pleasonton. The drive is far but the gas consumption evens out (only one practice a weak). So far things seem alright, they like me a lot. |

Ahwell, its your bass, not mine. | I'm sure you'd like it, it's perfectly set up, tuned BEAD, all hipshot hardware, leo quan bridge and a villex booster. People don't like it just because of the artist that endorses it. It has a pretty colors and it's a P-bass, so I absolutely enjoy it.
links of my band in my sig. |

links of my band in my sig. | I'd prolly like to play it, but I could never see myself playing it. something about the bat/heart really makes me cringe.
I shall explore these links in your sig.
I heavily approve of you band. The Frech prince theme has won the approval of the internets. |

With my current band, I'm playing the Washburn at the far right. It's small, short, light, 24 frets with EMG's for that hi-fi sound. I might pull out the Wentz for one FOB cover, but I'm getting sick of playing their songs. |

At 7.5 pounds, I wouldn't mind gigging with that bass, the other ones are just too cumbersome for me. Forget about bringing the coffin locker, that thing weighs at least 80 pounds when fully loaded. |

How do you like that Ibanez acoustic? And what Fall Out Boy song do you cover? And how hard is it really to find a screamo vocalist?? |

we want one that can sing notes too, mind you. This is screamo, not Job for a Cowboy / Cannibal Corpse mud-slinging.
and for the record, our love life is excellent
The Ibanez plays really well, I enjoy it. It's super quiet for recording and the acoustic bass guitar sound really comes through well (as opposed to just sounding like an electric bass).
I can play: dead on arrival, dance dance, sugar we're going down, grand theft autumn.
of which I have played them all to death and am not really interested in it. As of late I've been going back towards my Japanese rock roots.
oh yea, and the Ibanez is not fun to carry around, but totally worth it for jamming acoustically. |

Tony cut me a deal and let me have it for 40 (such a nice guy). It's nothing fancy, 3 controls, hard plastic chassis, with battery access on the front (which is really convenient for me). Last night I wasn't too happy with it, and then realized that putting it at the end of my chain was all wrong. Put it in the front and now I sound great.
I've come a long way since I've started on fretted instruments. My washburn came a long way since I first bought it too (lots of little goodies added on). I used to play guitar until my first drummer told me I was more of a bass player, so I bought one. Since then I've sold all my guitars in the picture, and have one rouge acoustic. The yamaha keyboard was given away to someone who would find more usefullness in it. I still wish my parents had the other Yamaha, but they moved it to the other "investment" house in Elk Grove or whatever. I can two-hand tap decently, maybe I'll take up the keys.
I wont lie, sometimes I miss my guitars, they were special to me. |

I mostly sat around on TB, practiced on my own, wrote a little more to my valentine's day song, practiced drum rudiments. With all the interest I'm generating in the CD, I really wish I could be on it. I hope to learn my band's songs as quickly as possible so that we can go re-record / write new ones...maybe a Single's worth of songs at least. Any demos that I get a hold of, I'll certainly give them away to my loving TB family.
I hope that they don't kick me out anytime soon. I'm sort of self conscious; all the bass players they had before were just guitards, or worse, people who took up the bass because they thought it would be easy. They're still getting accustomed to have a genuine bass player, matching the drum accents, and not just mimicking the guitar lines. Maybe they're slightly put off by me not being as "screamo" as they are. I thought I liked the genre until I was hanging with them; they eat, sleep, and breathe the music. Not to say that it's bad or they're bad, because they're really great players. They try to make me feel welcome, but I always get the notion that maybe they're auditioning players while I'm not around or that I'm just the guy that comes every week to play bass, and nothing more.
Maybe I'm just making too much of things, they advertised me all over their myspace, with videos and bulletins (quite funny), and they said that the first day that I was good and that they wanted me. I guess I miss the old band: the drummer wasn't great and couldn't do doubles, and the singer was pitch perfect but didn't know how to actually sit down and write a melody. I was the one that could play drums, guitar, bass, and even some limited singing. I guess it was nice to sit back and not be pressured. Right now, I really have to push myself to learn the songs, with really tight-timing. It's been about 3 weeks, and I've learned 4 songs. I have 7 more to go.
Maybe I'm just a little offend because I'm stuck here with this borrowed schecter with nobody to give me a pat on the back for how well it was set up. Or maybe I feel insulted that they didn't give me feedback about the song I wrote on Valentine's day. |

But it's good that you asked that, It took me a little time to really get friendly with my last band. I don't know, they don't talk to me much on AIM, and their words come out dry and dull most of the time. |

If anyone hasn't heard the Valentine's day song, I demand you listen. It's rather excellent. |

Rex really liked jamming with me. Decided to drop by Tony's place. Had a fun time jamming with some older fellas. I played a Rickenbacker today! I could just feel the mojo from the bass.
I bought a pair of bongos for 40 bucks. Was going to buy a bass distortion, but Tony sold it yesterday, he said he would hold one for me and give it to me for 30. Playing these bongos is difficult, but could be good for me. I was tuckered out from hitting my drum pad so hard with rex, a pair of bongo's might just be the ticket. | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | |
