Metal Facepalm!

Alright. I've seen several posts that start like this

"I'm in a metal band...."

Immediately there is reference to facepalm and a long running joke. Whats the deal with this?, where did it get started and why does it continue? I've only been on the forums a few months and see it come up semi-frequently.

Because all "metalist" seem to want to know whats the best ______ for metal and the answer is always "Nothing is best for any certain genre....Point Blank...... it gets asked several times a day and people could use the search function to find out that there is no particular bass best for Metal..... so they usually get a "Facepalm".....

Its because a lot of the posts that start as such are just rehashing of questions that have been repeatedly answered, much like the weekly, "what's the best bass for metal" thread.

There may also be a slight degree of elitism from those who look at metal as a juvenile form of music, which people will grow out of.

Largely its just the humour of the board. Its all harmless fun.

+1....... A better question to ask would be, "What isn't the best _______ for Metal?"

Several times a day? Hardly. It is a common question, but not that common.

I think we're overlooking the real issue here. What's the best reply to "What's the best bass for metal?"?
