I like them both, but I'm not a fan of Metallica's new stuff.

I still like Megadeth's stuff.

I love both, but I'm going to have to go with Megadeth. I've always liked Dave Mustaine's musical attitude, lead guitar playing, and snarling faces not to mention one of my very favorite bass players who also uses a pick - David Ellefson.

The "So Far, So Good, So What" album just kicks ass from start to finish ..... excellent CD.

Megadeth, overall and IMHO, has better songs.

I'm more of a Peace Sells kind of guy myself. PS really broke away from what most 80s thrash bands were doing at the time

Never loved anything from Megadeth aside from Rust in Peace (yes, including the earlier material)... I still love Metallica's first 4 albums. Plus, I can't stand Mustaine. Ellefson is rad though... Always liked that dude.

You can't stand Mustaine as a person or as a singer?

I think Megadeth has a more consistently good discography but I like the first four Metallica albums more than anything Megadeth's put every done. So I voted for Metallica.

Oddly enough, if I had to choose who I wanted to see live, I'd choose Megadeth. Anyone know if Mustaine got his voice back some what? I heard he was having some kind of surgery a while back. His vocals didn't sound very good live and he even re-recorded the vocals for a DVD release (or more than one?).

I think it's hard not to like both; after all - in the beginning they were the same band.

I have to say Megadeth.

I did love both equally, once. Now, I can't stand much of anything from Metallica after Load.

But I still love Megadeth. And David Ellefson still kicks ass.
He and Steve Harris are my favorite metal bassists, hands down.

My Last Words > anything Cliff ever recorded IMHO.

And I still say Newsted's finest hour was on Flotsam and Jetsams debut.

More as a person but I don't love his vocals either. Great guitar player though.

Mustaine sounded fine when I saw them w/ Slayer and Testament a couple years ago. Is the surgery recent?

Megadeth, not even a contest.

Metallica's come back to thrash (Death Magnetic) doesn't even hold a candle to Megadeth's (The System Has Failed).
