Mic stand problem.

Sign in to disble this ad
I bought a mic and mic stand for recording the other day and when I finaly got a chance to set everything up I realized something wasnt going to work.

My stand has a half inch (estimating) male end and my mic has a quarter inch (again, estimating) female end. Now this just isnt going to work, and I dont want to do something stupid like tape it on.

Does anyone know if they make adaptors for what I am looking for and where I could pick one up? Or an I out of luck and need to buy a new mic stand?

Thanks,
Sam.

I've got adapters that go the other way, so I suspect you could find some that go your way.

Or what is the name of such a product (a female 1/2 inch to male 1/4 inch adaptor thingie) so that it might be a little easier to find?

I got mine at Long & McQuade's with some Apex mics. Dunno the exact term, but the big end is 5/8"-27 thread, which is the 'standard' mic stand thread, so that'll be your female end. The other end I haven't an exact spec for, but it does look about 1/4". I'm in bed with a bad hip at the moment, otherwise I'd dig up the packaging and/or specs.
