Here's fast guitar playing with more harmonic content, and emotional content for that matter:

Why do bass players hate shred guitar so much? I mean come on, Michael Angelo has major skills. You cant deny that kind of talent.

He is good, but that video dosn't really showcase his talent at all.

What is the deal with the Jazz fetish on this site. It just doesnt impress me, I appreciate that it used some advanced technical stuff, but it doesnt like blow my mind or anything.

Talent doesn't make good music.

I think its pretty good. I enjoy listening to virtouso guitar. Michael Angelo, Yngwie (obviously), Vai, Satriani, ect. I wishes I could play like that.

Well, everyone is going to have differing opinions. If you're diggin' it, cool, but don't expect too many bassist to rally behind your MAB love.

Really think it is stupid. I think someone could say alot more with 2 notes than he could with all those notes. Is it techniquly demanding ? yes , but what does that mean , nothing. I still like players with more feeling in their playing rather than having someone who could just play a million notes per second.

It's cool, but that's it, I don't find anything enjoyable about Michael Angelo's music, god was Nitro bad.
Anyway "virtuoso guitar" doesn't have anything to do with being a fast shredder, "I can't play faster than you thing." I agree with Vai and Satriani being virtuosos but Michael Angelo and Yngwie are different things. (I can sense the typical but yngwie has classical training argument coming)
If you want "virtuoso guitar" check out

that's something I can appreciate more as a musician

I saw a comment on one of MAB's videos that said "Excess without emotion, it's why the 80's died"

I figured because we're talking about guitar, i could post a musing i recently had, feel free to weigh in or something.

"Bass supplies a backbone to a song...what the f--- does guitar supply?"

Most guitar players I've known think Michael Angelo Batio is something of a joke. And they like metal.

It doesn't blow my mind either.

I often like virtuouso "shredding" as I often find lots of emotion inside of it (even Yngwie at times) but I cannot stand Michael Angelo Batio for the life of me. Most tend to be more melodic but Batio is almost completely rhythmic in the sense that its just speed, and nothing more.

There is music, and then there's gymnastics. Don't confuse the two.
