Question MIDI for keys

Sign in to disble this ad
So since my band Mavet's keyboard player quit the band it's been a real pain in the bee to find a replacement. We've been discussing if the keys are even really essential to our sound, but a friend of ours suggested that we could use a MIDI foot controller that either me or the guitar player could stomp on to get some nice pads to fill in the sound spectrum a bit. We think it's a pretty good idea, but don't really know how to go about doing this.

What could this high school (read: budget) band do for this and what kind of equipment do we need? The sound quality doesn't need to be all that great and the simpler the better.

Thanks ya'll
