Very misc, I know - it relates to one of my country's recent exports. Sometimes I wish I was from Austria instead of Australia...

Ha, yeah, I saw that. It's funny because right after talking about doing an album of 60s italian music, he bashes "retro rock."

P.S. Former lead singer of Faith No More... ha.

Another strike vs. Mr. Patton.

Due to my friend's unwavering admiration of Mike Patton, I tried to like the guy. He's getting dangerously close to my hate list. That's right Mr. Patton, you're close to some anonymous no name guy's hate list! Fear it buddy!

(edit)

Oh that's it. They worked with a Red Hot Chili Peppers producer, that's why he hates Wolfmother. Get over it already Mike, you got your own thing goin now, you can ignore the Peppers exist!

Ha, yeah... no matter how many albums of '60s Italian music he does, no matter how many albums of experimental noise he does... he's always gonna be pegged as "Former Lead Singer of Faith No More" now and forever and to the ages of ages amen.

I have always viewed the man as a talented prick. Anyone who can view FNM as garbage compared to his other bands is a little left of center.

Wolfmother will come and go like every other retro-ripoff act. Then they'll back to doublebill around Australia with Jet.

I may have to cut the power to that show

Re: Mike... yeah, mainstream media can be very narrow focus, but what do you expect - FNM were absolutely huge in their day. Bass tone on that album is killer!

I'm not the biggest Patton fan-boy, but I can definitely appreciate some of his work.

FNM - loved them growing up, still rate 'King for a day' very highly.

Mr. Bungle - hit and miss for me, but I love 'quote/unquote' and 'none of them knew they were robots'.

Tomahawk - kinda FNM Mk.2, sans keys. Less gimicky IMO, and 'birdsong' (Mit Gas) is amazing.

Dillinger Escape Plan - he only did vox for one EP, but wow...

Fantomas - urgh. Not even Dave Lombardo can make me enjoy it!

I reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaallly doubt that's the reason. I agree, Wolfmother's music is without content, but it's fun. For an "ar teeeest" such as Mr. Patton, it's easy to look down your nose at something that isn't weird inside the mainstream.

He's a tool, I like his music, but if I saw him at a bar/after a concert, I wouldn't talk to him.

I haven't talked to him personally, but I've been around him after/before shows and such... and I think it's best to just leave him alone.

Most of his various bandmates form various bands are cool for a chat though.

They all got along like water and sodium! - especially Mike Patton and Jim Martin....highly unlikely!(Jim was the guitarist on Angel Dust, and IMO, the best one they ever had.)

I'm a HUGE Mike Patton fan. And I don't mean I'm pushing 7'

I think he's an amazing artist, prick or not. I personally don't find anything wrong with Wolfmother, but hey, if Patton wants to say they suck that's his opinion. You guys can't tell me that there is NO band out there (ESPECIALLY TODAY) that you would say sucks. It's an opinion, if Patton didn't share his he probablly wouldn't be a singer, or a human for that matter.

As far as "Former FNM Singer" Well, unfortunantly most people (who don't play music) aren't even that familliar with FNM until you say Epic. But that's still not such a bad thing to go down in history for.

Any band that is more famous than mine cannot "suck." I can dislike their music though, but they did something to break through that countless others weren't able to do. At least they picked the 60's-70's to ripoff, those 80's ripoff bands are much worse than the filler that was the 80's.

I tip my hat to them even though I dislike their music. My only suggestion is that Wolfmother shouldn't spend any of their money because those retro-ripoff acts have about a 1 year life span (Jet, The Darkness).

What is really sad, if Wolfmother was a "underground stoner rock band" they'd be well loved for their entire pennyless career.

Thats actually the most empathy I've ever had with Patton. As said before, talented, but more than a little unbalanced.

Wouldn't it have been boring if he had said something like "I personally dislike Wolfmother's music but respect those who disagree?" Just relax.

Yeah, he was very good on AD, which is my favourite FNM by a mile, but from what I hear, he was a real azzhole which really annoyed the band.

A lot of times you can't take these kinds of things at face value.

I mean really...he clearly knows who the band is but he's acting as if he just realizes on camera that they suck? Maybe they have one of those prankster rivalries that are so common when bands tour together. Maybe he's pulling our leg? Maybe not but we don't know the background either way.

I've seen opinions expressed way more harshly than that! So has Glenn Danzig.
