listening to it right now....mesmerising...I get lost in it. Anyone else enjoy this masterpiece in a dark room with a glass of wine and no outside distractions?

goes great with ether!!!
seriously... a seminal bold change of DNA for miles. he saw the top of the electric wave and added his weight and brilliance to it, changing jazz yet again.
great book: beyond miles", great in-depth exploration of his entire electric period.

....uh.. saw the title of this thread and can't resist, but that is totally the CD I throw in when making sweet lovin' to a girl. So check to the dark room and wine. Distractions however, well...

I shouldn't post at 4am.

I enjoy it nearly every week on a long van ride from Yuma, AZ to Phoenix at about 5 am...goes great with the rising sun in the desert.

"while making sweet lovin' to a girl"

Wasn't there a scene in Jerry Mcguire with Miles Davis as make-out music. Very funny.

Bitches Brew is amazing, no doubt.

One thing I miss about being younger was having more spare time to just sit and listen to albums like this. Bitches Brew is perhaps the single best example of early jazz/rock fusion, and sounds as good today as it did when it was released. Along with Kind of Blue and In a Silent Way, my favorite three Miles recordings.

I remember hearing this album for the first time at my 8th grade art teacher's house, changed my life.

One of the best albums ever. Layer on layer on layer... all interwoven. Just the best.

Not to mention that his trumpet is on FIRE for this album! To tell you the truth, I think it was his last great album. Everything after, his trumpet sounded thin, strained and fragile, in my opinion.

I once infuriated a (virtual) room full of musicians on some usenet newsgroup by opining -- and quite seriously, mind you -- that Al Hirt and Herb Alpert both got a better sound out of their trumpet than Miles Davis did.
