So I asked my Dad to mail me some tools and stuff so I could install some new pups in my AmDlx FMT V. The package he sent got here earlier today and I was super excited because I'd never done anything like this before. It would be my first time putting in some kind of electronics on my own. I do every besides splicing the wires; I cut the original pup leads, remove the stock pups, thread the new leads into the preamp cavity, put in new pups, strip all wires appropriately and heat up the soldering iron. I finally go to grab the spool of solder and I notice that the label says MIG wire!!! As in, welding material... and I don't think a blowtorch would be appropriate for this job.

Anyway, being as impatient as I am I was frustrated and have been starring at my stringless bass with new pickups that aren't completely installed yet since I got out of class earlier today.

I'll get my hands on some actual solder soon but that was facepalm moment for sure.

No Radio Shack in Mitchellville?

Edit: OK, they're probably not open 24 hours...

I'm actually in Catonsville now. Going to college at UMBC. I managed to get a friend to ride me over to Home Depot and the 60/40 rosin-core solder I needed and hooked everything up! I was so proud of myself, lol. I'll be doing a full review with pics and sound/video clips within the week

twist 'em together and put some electrical tape on 'em. That'll hold you for...10 years.
